Currently on display in the Ben Bailey Art Gallery at Texas A&M University-Kingsville are a number of prints made in an unusual way. No normal press was used to make these prints although they were pressed, literally. During the recent Artwalk in downtown Kingsville, prints made on large wooden blocks were pressed on paper using a steam roller normally reserved for construction or road work.

These prints are now on display at the gallery through Friday, Dec. 2, in an exhibit entitled Kingsville Inksville. The art gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. To make the prints, artists carved oversize woodcuts that were then inked, covered in archival paper and padding. The steam roller simply rolls over the paper and block and when the paper is peeled away, the print is revealed.
